Mannara Chopra reacted to Kunal Kamra’s anti-Hindu remarks
Mumbai: Actress Mannara Chopra, cousin of global star Priyanka Chopra, has shared her views on the controversy surrounding comedian Kunal Kamra. She believes that public platforms should not be used to promote any specific religion or ideology.
Mannara addressed Kamra’s “Sita’s husband” remark, which has been a topic of discussion on X (formerly Twitter). She stated: “When such claims are made on stage—regarding Sita’s husband and such matters—I would say that I am a secular person… such platforms should not be used to promote a particular religion or to discuss a specific ideology.”
She further added that the focus should remain on issues concerning students rather than getting sidetracked by trivial debates.
Mannara said: “You should only talk about the issue at hand. Instead, he is discussing which film producer, director, or actor spoke about Sonam (Wangchuk) ji. I do not wish to offer an opinion on that—and why should I?”
“The issue here concerns students, and I feel that is what should be highlighted and discussed, rather than other matters or which film they celebrated.”
As for Mannara, she entered the acting world in 2014 and has demonstrated her talent in films across various languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Hindi, and Kannada. She made her acting debut in 2014 with the Telugu film Prema Geema Jantha Nai, starring alongside Sreerama Chandra.
She made her Hindi debut in Anubhav Sinha’s film Zid, alongside Karanvir Sharma. In 2015, Chopra made special appearances in songs for two Tamil films, Sandamarutham and Kaaval.
Mannara also played a lead role alongside Sai Dharam Tej in the film Thikka. She made her Kannada cinema debut in 2017 with the film “Rogue.” She gained significant popularity after participating in the 17th season of “Bigg Boss,” hosted by Salman Khan, in 2023; she finished as the second runner-up, while Munawar Faruqui emerged as the winner. She ventured into the web space with “Bhootmate,” playing the role of a ghost named Pari. Following this, she will appear in the Telugu film “Thiragabadara Saami” alongside Raj Tarun and the Punjabi film “Ohi Chann Ohi Raatan.”
