Manipur violence: 70 students from Andhra Pradesh stranded at NIT Imphal

Amaravati (IANS) | As many as 70 students from Andhra Pradesh are stranded at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Imphal and their families have urged the state government to send a special aircraft to evacuate them from violence-hit Manipur. Concerned about the safety of the students, their parents have requested the Andhra Pradesh government to make arrangements on the lines of the Telangana government, which is sending a special aircraft to evacuate its citizens.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has released a helpline number to provide any kind of assistance to the students of Andhra Pradesh in Manipur.
The helpline numbers are 011-23384016 and 011-23387089.
“We are in constant touch with the Manipur government and local administration to ensure all possible help,” an official release said. The following helpline numbers have been provided by the Government of Manipur to provide assistance to the people affected by the current law and order situation in the state.

The parents of the wards who are in Manipur can tell the helpline number to their wards along with the details of the helpline set up at AP Bhavan New Delhi, the statement said. We request the students to contact through helpline at Imphal or AP Bhawan, New Delhi.
The Telangana government has sent an aircraft to evacuate its people stranded in Manipur.
The state government said it was taking all measures to ensure the safety of Telangana students and people living in Manipur.
A special cell has been opened to monitor the situation in the state of Manipur and to protect the interests of the people of Telangana in Manipur.
As per available information, around 250 students belonging to Telangana are studying in various educational institutions in and around Imphal. Telangana government has decided to immediately airlift Telangana students from Imphal to Hyderabad. For this, a special flight has been arranged from Imphal to Hyderabad on Sunday.
Telangana Chief Secretary has approached Manipur Chief Secretary to facilitate the safe transit of Telangana students from Imphal to Hyderabad.
The Chief Secretary and Director General of Police, Telangana is in close touch with the Manipur State Government officials to ensure the safety and security of Telangana people/students in the State of Manipur.
