Manipur Police has arrested six people for looting weapons from the India Reserve Battalion camp at Chingarell in Manipur’s Imphal East district.
Police said four INSAS rifles, one AK component, two magazines of SLR and 16 small boxes of 9 mm ammunition looted from the IRB camp were also recovered.
Taking the X, the police said, “In connection with the incident of looting of arms at 5th IRB, Chingarell, Imphal East by an unruly mob on the night of 13.02.2024, the Manipur Police has arrested six persons on Wednesday and remanded them to But it has been taken.” In police custody by Judicial Magistrate.
An unruly mob entered the camp of the 5th IRB at Chingarel and ran away with arms and ammunition. Following the incident, a large number of “rural volunteers” also attempted to enter the Manipur Police Training College at Pangei in Imphal East district, located about 5 km from Chingarel.
