Mandi: Token machines will be installed in the hospital to ease the process of registration of patients

MANDI: There is good news for patients and their attendants visiting Mandi Regional Hospital as Citizen Council Mandi, a private organisation of senior citizens, on Saturday installed token machines from its own funds to facilitate registration of patients coming for medical checkups. Neeraj Handa, a member of the council, said the initiative has been made possible due to the persistent efforts of council head OP Kapoor and hospital authorities. Two volunteers will now help patients and their attendants round the clock, helping them issue tokens and give registration slips for medical checkups, to reduce the waiting queues.

Besides, benches have been installed for patients and attendants to sit comfortably while waiting for registration slips. Some benches have been provided by the Municipal Corporation, while others have been shifted from less used areas of the hospital premises, he said. Besides, the Citizen Council has allocated Rs 1 lakh from its savings for the maintenance of crematorium Moksha Dham in Mandi. The contribution was handed over to NGO Veer Mandal, which maintains crematoriums, to maintain a smokeless pyre chamber. Funds saved from last year’s disaster relief efforts were used for these initiatives, said council chief OP Kapoor. He said the aim was to set up a dedicated fund for local issues, which would help the hospital administration and other departments address community challenges effectively.
