Major split in AIADMK ahead of trust vote in Tamil Nadu Assembly

Tamil Nadu: A major political development has emerged in Tamil Nadu politics just before the trust vote. Supporters of former minister C. V. Shanmugam have announced that they will support the Tamil Nadu Victory Party (THAVEKA) in the upcoming trust vote in the Assembly. This decision is expected to significantly alter the political dynamics in the state.

The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government led by Chief Minister Vijay is already preparing for the trust vote, and now the internal strife within the AIADMK has made the process even more crucial.

According to sources, amid ongoing factionalism within the AIADMK, 17 MLAs have submitted letters to the Speaker in separate groups demanding that Edappadi Palaniswami be appointed leader of the AIADMK legislative party. Another 30 MLAs have also submitted letters to the Speaker in separate groups demanding that S.P. Velumani be appointed leader. These letters have further highlighted the leadership crisis within the party.

Meanwhile, former minister C.V. Shanmugam has already announced that he will support the Thaveka government in the upcoming trust vote. His stance is being seen as a significant political message, further deepening the divisions within the AIADMK.

Amid the political turmoil, Chief Minister Vijay has also played an active role. He reportedly met with C.V. Shanmugam at his residence in MRC Nagar, Chennai, yesterday evening. During this, he spoke with AIADMK MLAs supporting Thaveka and discussed the current political situation. This meeting is considered crucial ahead of the trust vote.

The ongoing factionalism and division of support within the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam has made the upcoming trust vote in the Assembly even more interesting. Political analysts believe this situation could prove decisive for both the government and the opposition.

The government side claims that it has a complete strategy to garner the necessary support and is confident of proving a majority in the trust vote. Meanwhile, the ongoing tussle within the opposition camp continues to leave the situation uncertain.

Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, legislators’ activities and political contacts have intensified. Each party is striving to keep its legislators united. Meanwhile, the public is watching intently to see which party ultimately wins a majority.

This entire development is being seen as a sign of a major shift in Tamil Nadu politics, which could impact the state’s political direction in the coming days.
