Major eviction drive clears path for Cuttack Railway upgradation

Cuttack: The much-anticipated redevelopment of Cuttack Railway Station has taken a significant leap forward with the successful removal of unauthorized shops and structures from the Station Bazar area in front of Gate No. 01. This eviction marks a crucial step in facilitating the seamless execution of the ambitious station redevelopment project, aimed at transforming Cuttack Railway Station into a world-class facility.
For the construction of the front road, and circulating area, 32 shops in front of the existing station needed to be removed. As part of this initiative, a well-coordinated eviction drive was conducted today by East Coast Railway with the support of GRP/ECoR and RPF/ECoR, in the presence of an executive magistrate. A total of 30 shops were successfully evicted following all prescribed procedures, while 2 remaining shops could not be removed as they are under sub-judice.
This successful eviction will now allow the commencement of circulating area development and road widening. The existing 10-meter-wide road will be expanded to 18 meters, ensuring smooth traffic movement and better accessibility for passengers. This timely eviction is a significant milestone in ensuring that the project stays on schedule.
The redevelopment of Cuttack Railway Station is set to bring enhanced passenger convenience, modern infrastructure, and world-class amenities. Indian Railways remains committed to executing this transformative project efficiently, ensuring that the station becomes a hub of comfort, efficiency, and modern facilities for lakhs of passengers.
With this crucial milestone achieved, the redevelopment work is expected to progress rapidly, paving the way for an upgraded, well-structured, and passenger-friendly Cuttack Railway Station in the near future.
