Mahindra has responded to an fire incident involving it’s popular Mahindra BE 6. According to sources, a Mahindra BE 6 recently caught fire near Gulaothi in Uttar Pradesh. The video of the incident was posted on social media making owners panic over the safety of the vehicle.

To calm the panicking users, Mahindra investigated the incident and issued an official clarification explaining what happened to the BE 6 SUV.

According to the clarification posted by the company on it’s social media page, the reason behind the fire is a deflated rear right tyre not because of the battery pack.

Mahindra claimed that the SUV continued to be driven for a period of around 10 minutes at speeds of up to 60kph despite having a flat tyre, which caused the fire.

Mahindra also added that the safety system of the vehicle had sent multiple alerts regarding a deflated tyre, which was further accompanied by high tyre temperature indications. In addition, the stability control and traction control of the vehicle were also activated while the car was still being driven. This minimized the wheel spin that was caused the deflated tyre.

At last the SUV came to a stand still after the vehicle’s speed was electronically limited. In the end, Mahindra pointed out that even in the video, the rear right tyre seems to the source of the fire.

The high friction of the tyre and tarmac lead to the fire in the BE 6, said Mahindra.
