Maharashtra News: Many people died in Lonavala accident

Pune: A waterfall accident in Pune’s Lonavala during the monsoon killed several picnicking families and triggered a search for the missing, but another incident at another waterfall in the city claimed another life.The body of a 38-year-old climber who jumped into Pune’s Tammini Ghat waterfall was found in Maharashtra’s Raigad district on Monday.A video of the incident on Saturday shows a man struggling in the waters of the Tammini Ghat. After a few seconds you will see the man floating downstream. The victim was identified as Swapnil Daudeh, a resident of Busari in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Daudeh, a former soldier, was travelling with a group of around 30 people, Azad Press Journal reported. In the Lonavala incident, the bodies of all five people who were swept away into the waterfall near Bushi dam in Pune’s Lonavala district on Monday were recovered, while the body of the last missing person, a four-year-old boy, was also recovered, PTI reported. Rescue teams discovered the bodies of Shahista Liyaqat Ansari, 36, Amina Adel Ansari, 13, and Umra Adel Ansari, 8, at the accident site a few hours after the search and rescue operation began. Police, Navy divers and other rescue teams on Monday resumed the search for the two missing children, first recovering the body of 9-year-old Mariya Ansari from a reservoir near the accident site and later in the afternoon retrieving the body of a 2-year-old child.
