Maharashtra: March on MHADA building tomorrow for proper housing

Maharashtra: Residents of the transitional camp being redeveloped under Nirmalnagar Colony in Bandra (East) will protest at MHADA Bhavan on January 2. They demand that the residents of the transitional camp be given permanent housing in Nirmalnagar itself. The redevelopment of Nirmalnagar Colony began a year ago. This redevelopment also includes two buildings of the transitional camp of Mumbai Building Repair and Reconstruction Board here. 80 families of this transitional camp have been distributed houses from other transitional camps.

We have been living in the transitional camp for more than 40 years, how many more years do we want to live in the transitional camp? Raising this issue, these transitional camp residents refused to vacate the temporary camps and demanded that the 80 people be given permanent houses in the Nirmalnagar redevelopment itself. For this, some people also knocked the door of the High Court. However, the decision of the High Court went against the transitional camp residents. The High Court’s decision has been challenged in the Supreme Court. Former corporator Advocate Manmohan Chonkar said that he will take out a march to MHADA Bhawan at 10 am to demand permanent houses in Nirmalnagar Redevelopment.
