Madhya Pradesh: More than 8 lakh devotees came to Mahakaleshwar temple

Madhya Pradesh: More than eight lakh devotees reached the famous temple Mahakaleshwar in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain city on New Year’s Day to offer prayers, a temple official said on Tuesday. The temple of Mahakaleshwar is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of the country. Sandeep Soni, administrator of its management committee, said that by the end of the day 8,10 lakh devotees visited the temple. There were long queues since 6 am on Monday and more than 45,000 people witnessed the bhasma-aarti (morning prayers), he said. A large number of people were walking in the long Mahakal corridor on the moon.
