Ludhiana: Man found hanging in hotel

Ludhiana: A man was found hanging in a hotel on Friday night. A woman, who was also present in the hotel room along with the man, had cut marks on her hand.

The incident came to light when hotel staff reached the room after listening to woman’s screams. She was not able to open the door, when hotel staff managed to open it, they saw the man hanging in the room.

The deceased was identified as Anil Kumar (35). The police also found intoxicating pills in his pocket.

An employee, Amit Kumar, said on Friday, a man, Anil Kumar, came to the hotel with a woman and took a room. Both of them submitted their identity cards. Later in the evening, the woman started screaming. She was not able to open the door of the room. When staff opened it, the man’s body was found hanging from the ceiling fan. The victim might have used the woman’s dupatta for dying by suicide.

Moti Nagar SHO Varinder Uppal said the couple had an extra marital affair. They booked a room yesterday. He consumed liquor in excess. When she went to the washroom, the man, who was in an inebriated state, ended his life. When she returned to the room, she started screaming. So far, inquest proceedings had been initiated and further action would be taken in the case after the arrival of the autopsy report.

The SHO said there might be some arguments between the victim and the woman, who was also married, but preliminary probe did not point out her role behind his death.

Action to be taken as per autopsy report

Moti Nagar SHO Varinder Uppal said the victim consumed liquor in excess. So far, inquest proceedings had been initiated and further action would be taken in the case after the arrival of the autopsy report.
