Ludhiana: Man commits suicide, case filed against wife and in-laws

Ludhiana: A man, upset with his wife and in-laws, ended his life by consuming poisonous substance at his house in Navi Abadi, Khanna. The deceased has been identified as 33-year-old Karanveer Bhatti. Karanveer was having a divorce case with his wife. His in-laws were demanding money to withdraw the case, due to which he was being harassed. Khanna police has registered a case against Karanveer’s wife, father-in-law and mother-in-law for abetting suicide. Deceased Karanveer’s father complainant Raj Kumar said that his son was married to Amanpreet Kaur in the year 2018. In the year 2019, the couple had a daughter. After some time, Amanpreet Kaur went to her maternal home in Khudda Lahora, Chandigarh on the pretext of studies. He told that when his son went to Khudda Lahora to bring his wife back home, his in-laws refused to send her. Raj Kumar told that recently Karanveer had said that he cannot tolerate more harassment and does not want to live. He said that on June 18, his son consumed poison and died yesterday while undergoing treatment in the hospital. ASI Mukhtar Singh said that the suspects have not been arrested yet.
