Ludhiana: India-US Horticulture Workshop at PAU

A two-day India-US workshop on ‘Horticultural Crops’ began at Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) today, amid the presence of eminent horticulturists from India, USA and Australia.

Delegates from India and abroad attended the inaugural ceremony, which was organized as a part of a cooperative venture between PAU and California State University (CSU), Fresno, US.

Vice Chancellor Dr. Sabir Singh Gosal highlighted the important role played by PAU in promoting horticulture in Punjab. “With the area under horticultural crops touching 28.04 million hectares in 2021-22, Punjab has witnessed a huge jump in the area under fruit, vegetable and flower crops in three decades,” he said.

CSU President Dr. Saul Jimenez-Sandoval said California produces 25 percent of America’s food, and in addition to succeeding in agricultural mechanization, it has also made a mark in grape production. The keynote address was given by Dr. Gurrit Brar.
