Ludhiana: On the call given by the national unit of the Federation of Anganwari Workers and Helpers, the Anganwari Mulazim Union here held a massive rally at the Mini-Secretariat here under the leadership of its president Subhash Rani.

Subhash Rani said the rally was held to press upon the Union Government and Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman to allocate more funds in the budget to anganwaris in the country as in the meagre allocation, it was not possible to provide nutritious diet to poor and needy children. The workers said they should be provided their constitutional rights and their wages should be increased. Pre-primary classes should be handed over to the anganwaris again.

They said they were serving for the past several decades and now pre-primary classes were given to schools, which was injustice against anganwari workers and under the garb of digitalisation, they must not be exploited.
