Lucknow: Body of AC mechanic missing for three days found in Gomti, murder suspected

Lucknow Malihabad. The body of AC mechanic Sumit Kumar (24), who was missing from Malihabad Kotwali area for three days, was found floating in the Gomti river near Hanuman temple under Chowk police station on Tuesday. As soon as the information was received, the police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem after identification. At the same time, the family members have expressed the suspicion of murder and demanded action. Sumit, a resident of Ghusauli village under Malihabad Kotwali, worked as an SP near Teddy Puliya. The family members said that on July 17, Sumit went somewhere without informing the family. After this, he did not return home again, late in the evening the family members contacted Sumit on his mobile but his mobile started going off. After this, the family members inquired from relatives and son’s friends. Despite this, Sumit could not be traced anywhere. In view of the possibility of something untoward, the family members lodged a written complaint in Malihabad Kotwali and registered the missing of the son. After which the police also started searching for Sumit. On Tuesday afternoon, Sumit’s body was found floating in the Gomti river. Chowk in-charge inspector Nagesh Upadhyay said that the deceased has a tattoo of Maa’s name and Atham Asti Aarambh on his hand. The body is said to be two days old. No injury marks were found on the body. Mother Shantidevi has expressed the suspicion that her son was murdered and his body was thrown into the river and has demanded action. The in-charge inspector says that the cause of death became clear only after the post-mortem report came. At the same time, the police will take further action on the basis of facts and allegations found in the investigation.
