Logistics Industry Prosperity Index returned to growth in March

Beijing: China’s logistics industry prosperity index was 51.5 percent in March, up 2.2 percentage points from the previous month, China’s Logistics and Purchasing Federation reported, with the growth returning. An index above 50 indicates growth and a level below 50 indicates decline, while 50 is neutral. The index returned to the expansion range, the upstream and downstream of the supply chain improved rapidly, and industrial demand continued to grow in an orderly manner.

Looking at the industries, the total trade volume index of railway transport, water transport, air transport and postal express industry increased significantly. Physical and online consumption have steadily improved, urban logistics demand has grown rapidly, and the total trade volume index of the postal express industry was 68.2 percent, up 1.9 percentage points month-on-month. The aviation transport industry maintained its recovery trend. The total trade volume index of the aviation transportation industry increased by 2.3 percentage points month-on-month.

In addition, the total trade volume index of the three major regions of the east, central and west is in the expansion range. Among them, the total trade volume index of the western region was 50.9 percent, a significant increase of 2.4 percentage points from the previous month. In terms of new demand, the new order index in the central region increased the most. The new order index in the central region was above 52 percent, up two percentage points from the previous month. The new order index in the western region reached 52.9 percent, ranking first in terms of index level.
