Fatehabad: A shocking case has come to light in Haryana’s Fatehabad, where a soldier was arrested in connection with the murder of a 24-year-old nurse, whose body was found in the Ghaggar river earlier this year. The accused was identified as Ramphal, a resident of Jabtewala village, who was arrested by the police after an intensive investigation. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sanjay Bishnoi, the incident dates back to early February when the victim Ghosha, employed as a nurse in Tohana, went missing after leaving home for an alleged 24-hour duty. Her body, hidden in a sack, was found on the banks of the Ghaggar river in Ratia on February 15. After an intensive investigation, the police arrested the accused soldier, identified as Ramphal, from Jabtewala village, who was on leave at the time of the incident. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Sanjay Bishnoi, the investigation revealed that the soldier and the victim knew each other since school days. The relationship reportedly turned sour when Ghosha started pressuring the married Ramphal to marry her. Fearing exposure and social repercussions, Ramphal allegedly strangled Ghosha with a dupatta and charging cable during a car ride on February 4. He later dumped her body in a river with the help of an accomplice. DSP Bishnoi further claimed that the soldier’s confession during interrogation led to the arrest of another person involved in the crime. Police are continuing efforts to arrest this accomplice. The incident has shocked the local community, which has prompted a quick response from the authorities. Ramphal has been sent to judicial custody pending further investigation into the matter. The accused soldier has been charged with murder and further legal proceedings are awaiting trial as investigations continue.
