Livingstone’s struggle was wasted as Delhi won by 15 runs against Punjab
IPL 2023: Punjab Kings lost in a must-win match to stay in the play-offs race. Limited to 198 runs in a target of 214. Livingstone (94 : 5 fours, 9 sixes in 48 balls) played a destructive innings but could not win the team. He fought till the end when he burst with sixes. But, Delhi Capitals won by 15 runs as Ishant bowled brilliantly in the last over. With that, Punjab is left behind in the play offs race.
In the 20th over bowled by Ishant Sharma, Livingstone (94) hit a six off the second ball, a four off the second ball and a six off the third ball. The free hit did not get a run. No run on the fifth ball. He got out after giving a catch to the last ball. With that, Delhi won against Punjab by 15 runs.
Captain Shikhar Dhawan (0) was ducked in the crucial match. Last match century hero Prabhsimran Singh (22) then Atharva Thaide (54) retired Hurt and Livingstone (52) put up a half century innings. Shahrukh Khan (6) and Jitesh Sharma (0) came and went. Unrich Norge bowled Sam Curran (11) in the 19th over. Harpreet runs out Brar (0). With that, Punjab lost seven wickets. Among the Delhi bowlers, Enrich Norge and Ishant Sharma took 20 wickets. Khalil Ahmed and Kuldeep Yadav took one wicket each.
