Liton Das hits Bangladesh’s fastest half-century in 18 balls, breaks 16-year-old record

Chittagong (IANS) | Bangladesh opener Liton Das scored the fastest half-century in the shortest format by a Bangladeshi player in the rain-affected second T20I against Ireland.

Das brought up his half-century in just 18 balls which included five fours and three sixes. He broke the 16 year old record of Mohammad Ashraful. Ashraful scored a 20-ball fifty against the West Indies in the first T20 World Cup in South Africa.

The 28-year-old Das missed out on breaking the record last year when he scored a 21-ball half-century against India in a T20 World Cup match in Adelaide.

Das was dismissed after scoring 83 runs in 41 balls. Bangladesh made a huge score of 202 runs for three wickets in this match which was reduced to 17-17 overs.
