Liquor was being sold under the guise of a vegetable shop, police raided and caught the businessman
Raigarh. Police is conducting regular patrolling and action to crack down on illegal activities in the Punjipathra police area under the leadership of Thana Incharge Punjipathra Inspector Rakesh Mishra. Acting on the information of the informer, the Punjipathra police station has busted the illegal liquor sale business going on in a vegetable shop. This liquor raid action was carried out by Assistant Sub Inspector Jairam Sidar, Vijay Ekka and accompanying staff.
The police team was on patrolling in village Taraimal, Gerwani, Saraipali, Jivari and Delari area. During this, information was received that illegal Mahua liquor was being sold in a vegetable shop located at Raja Maidan in village Delari. After confirming the information, the police team raided the shop.
The shop operator, Vinod Kumar Patel (34), resident of Lamkana, District Katni, Madhya Pradesh, currently resident of village Delari, was found present on the spot. During interrogation, he admitted that he was selling liquor under the guise of a vegetable shop. During the search, raw mahua liquor filled in a plastic jerrycan of 15 liter capacity hidden in the shop was recovered. The estimated cost of the seized liquor is Rs 1500.
This act of the accused was found to be a crime under section 34(2), 59(a) of Chhattisgarh Excise Act. Police have registered a case against the accused and he will be produced for judicial action. The liquor raid team included head constable Lomesh Rajput, Vineet Tirkey, Nand Sai, constable Abhishek Dwivedi, Om Prakash Tiwari, Narendra Pankra and the affected Pushpa Tirkey.
