Light rain in many areas of Rajasthan caused damage to crops.
Jaipur: There has been light rain in many areas of Rajasthan due to which crops have been damaged. According to Jaipur Meteorological Centre, there was light rain in some parts of the state in the last 24 hours. Maximum rainfall of 19 mm has been recorded in Churu and 17 mm in Lalsot (Dausa). According to the weather center, the circulation system generated due to the influence of western disturbance is over northern Pakistan and Punjab on Saturday. Due to this, today there is a strong possibility of strong thunderstorms, lightning and hailstorm at one or two places in Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Bharatpur and Jaipur divisions of Eastern Rajasthan.
According to the Centre, there is a possibility of cloudy sky in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions with light rain at some places. The effect of the disturbance is likely to end from March 3 in most parts of the state and the weather is likely to remain mainly dry for the next one week. On Friday, seven people died and two got burnt after being hit by lightning at different places in Rajasthan.
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has given instructions to provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of the deceased. He has given instructions to provide proper assistance and treatment to the injured. Along with this, the state government has announced to assess the damage caused to the crops.
