Laborer dies of burns due to falling of molten iron

Durgapur. A worker died of burns due to falling of molten iron in a steel factory. The incident took place in the steel factory of Durgapur under West Burdwan district. The name of the deceased is Rishiraj Das (45). He had come to Durgapur to work in Mishra Steel Factory under SAIL. He got burnt due to falling hot metal. He was a permanent employee.

According to sources, while carrying hot metal in a ladle, suddenly hot and molten iron fell on Rishi due to which he got injured. He was taken to a private hospital in Durgapur. Rishiraj could not be saved even after treatment. He passed away.

A few days ago, five employees were seriously burnt due to the spread of hot molten liquid iron at Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP). Of these, four are undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Durgapur in critical condition.

Trinamool MLA from Pandaveshwar and party’s West Burdwan district president Narendranath Chakraborty, CITU-president Vishwaroop Banerjee, Durgapur Steel Factory chief general manager (urban services) Vikas Manbati visited the hospital to see the victims of the DSP accident. Narendranath Chakraborty had a long conversation with General Manager Vikas. Workers also expressed anger over safety issues.
