Kushinagar’s ADM Judicial Gulab Chandra Rajput sent resignation, stir in administrative department

Kushinagar. A news that is creating a stir in the administrative department has come out from Kushinagar district of Uttar Pradesh. PCS officer Gulab Chandra Rajput, posted as Additional District Magistrate (Judicial) in the district, has decided to resign from his post. He has sent a letter to the government requesting him to be relieved. This decision of the promoted PCS officer of the year 2018 batch has started many discussions among the administrative officers and employees. However, the officer has clarified that there is no administrative dispute behind his decision, but personal and family health problems. Till late Monday night, the appointment department had not received confirmation of receiving his resignation.
According to the information, ADM Judicial Gulab Chandra Rajput has been facing health related problems for a long time. Due to ill health he had to take medical leave again and again. He has been on leave for about two months. Due to lack of expected improvement in health, he has decided to retire from government service.
Gulab Chandra Rajput is originally from Hamirpur district of Uttar Pradesh. He has been serving in the administrative service for a long time and is a promoted PCS officer of the year 2018 batch. He was transferred from Jhansi to Kushinagar in April 2026. Here he was given the responsibility of Additional District Magistrate Judicial. However, shortly after his new posting, he had to take leave due to health issues.
According to media reports, Gulab Chandra Rajput has clarified about his resignation that his own health is not well for the last two months. Due to persistent health problems, it was becoming difficult for him to discharge his administrative responsibilities on a regular basis. Additionally, his mother is also ill and needs family care.
He told that he has taken this decision giving priority to his and his mother’s health. According to him, it was becoming difficult for him to continue government service in view of his health-related circumstances. For this reason, he has sent a letter to the government requesting him to relieve him from his work.
After the news of resignation came out, discussions started in the administrative department regarding its reasons. However, no major administrative dispute, departmental action or other reason behind his decision has been confirmed yet. The officer himself has cited health and family circumstances as the reason for his decision.
The same information has also come out quoting a senior officer of the Appointment Department that Gulab Chandra Rajput has been unwell for a long time. He has been on leave for almost two months due to health reasons. In such a situation, his decision to leave the post is said to be related to personal circumstances.
The important thing in this whole matter is that even though Gulab Chandra Rajput has informed the government about sending his resignation letter, till late Monday night there was no official confirmation of receipt of the application by the concerned department. In such a situation, the process of accepting his resignation and relieving him from service is not yet clear.
In the administrative service, the prescribed departmental process is completed between the resignation of an officer and its becoming effective. After receiving the application from the concerned officer, it is considered by the competent authority as per rules. Only after this, a formal decision is taken regarding accepting the resignation and relieving him of duty.
In the case of Gulab Chandra Rajput too, the decision to be taken at the government level will now be awaited. If his resignation is accepted, the government will have to make alternative arrangements to assume the responsibility of the post of Additional District Magistrate Judicial in Kushinagar.
The post of ADM Judicial is considered important in district administration. The officers posted on this post perform responsibilities under the prescribed powers in matters of revenue and administrative judicial nature. Apart from this, they also perform various tasks assigned by the government and district administration from time to time.
In an important district like Kushinagar, the news of resignation of the officer posted on this post has naturally increased the discussion in the administrative circles. However, it is not yet clear when the government will take a decision on his request and whether he will be formally relieved or not.
It is being told that the scheduled retirement of Gulab Chandra Rajput was to take place in April 2029. Accordingly, approximately two and a half years of his government service were left. At such a time, the decision to voluntarily resign is considered important.
Generally, government officers remain in service till their scheduled retirement, but sometimes due to serious health problems and family circumstances, they have to decide to leave the service prematurely. Gulab Chandra Rajput has also said to take the same step considering his circumstances.
At present, the officer has clarified the health-related reasons behind his decision. In such a situation, it would not be appropriate to link any other reason to his resignation. Now everyone’s eyes are fixed on the next step of Uttar Pradesh Government and Appointment Department.
It will become clear in the coming days whether the government accepts his resignation or any other administrative option is adopted in view of the health-related circumstances. Till then the situation of separation of Gulab Chandra Rajput from service cannot be considered final.
