‘Krishnadevaraya’ in trouble: Bollywood star may replace Rishabh Shetty

Entertainment: Kannada star Rishab Shetty and the makers of the historical epic Krishnadevaraya are having differences over creative and contractual matters, and negotiations are currently stalled. According to a source, “Rishabh Shetty has made some demands that the makers are finding difficult to meet. Negotiations are ongoing, but if nothing is finalized in the coming weeks, he could be replaced by a major Bollywood star.” This high-profile period film, to be directed by renowned Bollywood filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker, was initially scheduled to begin shooting in February. However, ongoing negotiations have created uncertainty regarding the schedule, which could push the project’s start date back. Following the massive pan-India success of Kantara, Rishab Shetty’s stature has grown significantly. The source further added, “He has become a major Indian star with an unmatched emotional connect with audiences. Obviously, he wants the confidence to maintain that image.” âMeanwhile, the makers are considering the limitations of their creative vision and budget.â Rishabh has already agreed to play the famous Vijayanagara emperor, collaborating with Bollywood and South Indian actors to create a massive cinematic epic. Adding prestige to the project is Ashutosh Gowariker, known for classics like Lagaan and Jodhaa Akbar, who is making his debut as a South Indian director. The source added, âAshutosh was deeply inspired by the heroic life of Krishnadevaraya, one of India’s greatest rulers, who ruled from 1509 to 1529 and was given titles like ‘Andhra Bhoja’ and ‘Karnataka Ratna’.â
