Kotwali police took action against liquor smugglers in Madhubanpara
Raigarh. Kotwali police raided the house of Akash Oraon behind Madhubanpara Durga temple in Thana Kotwali area and recovered 28 liters of Mahua liquor. Police station in-charge Sukhnandan Patel had received information from the informer that the accused was storing a large quantity of liquor in his house to sell it illegally. Based on the information, the patrolling team was instructed to take immediate action.
The patrolling team reached the spot and interrogated the accused Akash Oraon, in which he admitted to hiding illegal Mahua liquor. The team also recovered 28 liters of Mahua liquor kept in plastic buckets and bottles, whose estimated value is ₹5600, along with ₹100 cash. This entire seizure process was done in the presence of witnesses. The accused was identified as Akash Oraon (32), son of Baratram Oraon, resident behind Madhubanpara Durga temple, Raigarh. Police have registered a case against him under Section 34(2) and 59(a) of the Excise Act.
Assistant Sub-Inspector Gautam Thakur, constables Manoj Patnaik, Uttam Sarathi and lady constable Kasturi Rathia played an important role in this action. The accused has been arrested and further legal proceedings have been initiated. The police is keeping a strict watch on such activities while continuing the campaign against illegal liquor.
