Koshala Samaja calls for 12-hour strike in Sundargarh

Sundargarh: Koshal Samaja has called a 12-hour strike in Sundargarh, protesting the exploitation of women at their workplace. As many as 90 young women were taken to Tamil Nadu for job where they were tortured.

The Koshal Samaja of Sundargarh has called for the protest demanding to bring back the Odia girls trapped in Tamil Nadu. As an effect of the protest, the shops, markets, schools and other institutions have been shut down. Even the vehicular transportation has been suspended today. This morning the protestors have picketed shops in the Patrapali square.

According to information, luring as many as 90 women in the name of giving them technical training in Tamil Nadu they were taken by an agent. They were exploited and tortured there.

The Koshal Samaja conducting the 12-hour strike also said that the State Government and District Administration has not taken any step in this matter. “The government is not doing anything to bring our daughters from Tamil Nadu. They had been lured with jobs after finishing the technical education. But in the name of technical education they are being beaten and tortured,” said the Koshala Samaja members.
