A person died after his car was swept away while crossing a flooded bridge in West Bardhaman district of Bengal. Officials said on Saturday that the person was crossing a flooded bridge in Kalyanpur Housing area of Asansol when his car was swept away. Locals said that the car driver was warned not to cross the flooded bridge. Officials said that the NDRF recovered the body from the spot on Saturday and sent it for post-mortem.
According to them, due to torrential rains, there has been waterlogging in West Bardhaman and East Bardhaman districts and Kolkata. Flight operations from Kazi Nazrul Islam Airport at Andal in West Burdwan district were temporarily suspended on Friday due to waterlogging in and around the premises. Flight operations at the KNI airport are likely to resume after noon on Saturday, officials said. They said the water level on the runway and other areas of the airport was receding and repair work was going on at a fast pace.
