Kishan Reddy: Efforts will be made to ensure that there is no shortage of coal

Hyderabad: New Union Coal and Mines Minister Kishan Reddy on Monday said he will try to ensure that there is no shortage of coal in the country. Speaking to reporters in Delhi on Monday night, he said coal plays an important role in the development of the country. He said that after taking charge of the ministries, he will discuss with officials to prepare an action plan and a 100-day agenda for both the departments. Reddy said, “Before Narendra Modi (became Prime Minister), there were power cuts in the country. Power cuts used to happen due to non-availability of coal, lack of supply of coal. After Modi ji came, he unveiled a new India without power cuts by increasing coal production.” He said, “The country is being made power cut-free by increasing electricity and grid connectivity in all the states. Certainly in this direction, we will think about avoiding coal shortage and improving production in the coming days.” Reddy, who is also the BJP president in Telangana, said that Prime Minister Modi will attend the swearing-in ceremony of TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister on June 12. He was re-elected to the Lok Sabha from the Secunderabad constituency in the recent elections. Reddy was inducted into the Union Cabinet for a new term on Sunday. Earlier, he was handling the Ministry of Tourism and Culture.
