KIIT University to launch scholarship in Prakriti Lamsal’s name: Achyuta Samanta

Bhubaneswar: The city-based Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) University has decided to launch a scholarship in the name of Prakriti Lamsal of Nepal, whose death had sparked a protest. KIIT-KISS founder Achyuta Samanta today informed about the University’s decision to begin the scholarship in memory of the deceased student.
After the process of handing over Prakriti Lamsal’s body was completed, Samanta met her father and uncle and expressed his deep grief over Prakriti Lamsal’s death and assured them to begin a scholarship in her memory.
Earlier in the day, the two officials from the New Delhi based embassy of Nepal met the Nepali students at the university and discussed about the matter. The officials also assured the students that such unfortunate incident would not happen anymore.
While several Nepali students, who had left KIIT University, have returned back to the campus, efforts by the authorities of Varsity are underway to bring all the students back to the institution. They are also reportedly making all necessary arrangement for the smooth return of the Nepali students to the KIIT University.
Meanwhile, Achyuta Samanta talked to Lalbabu Raut, the first Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, one of the seven federal Provinces of Nepal, and informed him about the arrangements being made to bring the Nepali students back to KIIT University. He also discussed about the matter with Nepal’s Foreign Minister Rana Arzu Deuba, Water Supply Minister Pradip Yadav, and Home Secretary Kapil Sharma Adhikari.
