Kia India aims to double CKD exports by 2030

Delhi: Delhi: Kia India on Monday said it is eyeing the Middle East and African markets as it aims to double exports of completely built-up (CKD) units by 2030.The automaker has exported over one lakh units of CKD vehicles so far since it started shipments in June 2020 from its manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.Kia India is one of the key export hubs for South Korea-based Kia Corporation, accounting for 50 per cent of its CKD exports worldwide.

In a statement, Kia India Chief Sales Officer Junsoo Cho said the automaker is grateful for the government’s export-friendly policies, which have played a key role in strengthening the country’s position within the global automotive value chain.”Looking ahead, we aim to expand our CKD footprint in the Middle East and Africa to double our export volumes by 2030,” he added. The automaker said that the company plans to export over 38,000 CKD units to markets like Uzbekistan, Ecuador and Vietnam this year.

In total, the company has exported 3.67 lakh units from the country so far. This development comes soon after the company launched the Carnival and EV9 in India. The Carnival has received a facelift and is the fourth generation available in India. The Kia Carnival comes with features like dual electric sunroof, front and middle-row ventilated seats, electrically adjustable powered seats for front and middle row, wireless charger and more.
