Khordha: Baba Chandeswar Dev Shaiva Peeth resonates with sacred chants as Veda Mahayagna held

In Odisha’s Khordha district, nestled within the historic Keshar Kshetra under Tangi Police Station limits, lies the revered Baba Chandeswar Dev Shaiva Peetha. This ancient temple, established by kings centuries ago, is a beacon of spirituality and tradition.
Recently, the temple grounds resonated with the sacred chants of the Vedas during the Shukla Yajurvedia Veda Mahayagna, a seven-day spiritual extravaganza that concluded on June 4th.
The Veda Mahayagna, organized by a dedicated yagna committee comprising villagers from Kuhudi Chhagarh, was a grand affair. The event was meticulously managed and saw active participation from devotees and locals alike. Under the leadership of Vinod Mohapatra, President of the Sri Sri Chendeswar Dev Temple Trust Board, the yagna was conducted with great fervor and devotion.
This historic kshetra is known for its vibrant festivals, including the prominent Kartik Purnima Yatra and Sitalsasthi Jatra, celebrated with great enthusiasm during the winter season.
The temple has also been hosting Rudra Mahayagna, Saur Mahayagna, and Kumari Saptasati Chandi Mahayagna since 1962, since the time of Gajapati Maharaj Bir Kishore Dev.
The recent Veda Mahayagna, which began on May 28th to continue for 7 days. As the sacred verses echoed through the temple premises, the atmosphere was charged with spirituality. The yagna was accompanied by cultural programs and prasad distribution at Anand Bazaar, adding to the festive fervor.
The significance of the Vedas in Hindu culture cannot be overstated. Believed to be the word of God, the Vedas are considered a source of spiritual power and wisdom. The chanting of Vedic mantras is said to dispel obstacles and bring peace and prosperity. As the Brahmin scholars recited the sacred verses, the seat of Baba Chandihar Dev trembled with devotion, creating a deeply moving experience for the devotees.
