Khanna: Dhaba attack raises concerns, police investigate

Punjab: Following an order from the Punjab and Haryana High Court, the Punjab Roadways Transport Corporation (PRTC) is set to regularize 450 contract employees. This move brings significant relief to employees who had long been awaiting regularization. According to sources, the matter arose in the High Court following a petition filed by the employees, who claimed they were not treated fairly and equitably under the terms of their contracts and were entitled to permanent employment. Hearing the petition, the court directed the PRTC to regularize the 450 employees.
The PRTC administration has initiated the process of regularizing the employees in compliance with the court order. Officials stated that all necessary formalities will be completed within the next few weeks, and the employees will be appointed to permanent positions. This decision has brought a wave of excitement and satisfaction among the employees. One employee said, “We have been working hard for years and hoping for justice. The HC order has now secured our jobs and reduced our worries about the future.” Experts say this decision is also important from the perspective of employee rights and transparency in government departments. They explained that regularization will boost employee morale and enable them to perform their duties with greater dedication and promptness. PRTC officials also stated that after regularization, employees will receive all the benefits and privileges applicable to permanent employees, including pension, gratuity, medical facilities, and other benefits. State government sources stated that this move is a major step in the right direction from the perspective of justice and employee satisfaction. They also stated that efforts will be made to ensure timely decisions and employee interests in such cases in the future. Employee representatives stated that the HC’s order sends a clear message that employees’ rights will be protected and that they will not be treated unfairly, despite their contractual status. They urged the administration to expedite the regularization process so that employees can receive benefits soon.
