Kerala’s draft voter list released; 24.08 lakh voters excluded

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The draft voter list of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Kerala was published on Tuesday. 2,54,42,352 people have filled the form while 24.08 lakh people have been excluded from the draft voter list. Those excluded can submit a form to add their names within a month from today. The draft voter list was handed over to political parties too. The Chief Secretary wrote to the Election Commission requesting a two-week postponement of the process. The final voter list will be released on February 21. Political parties say that many people excluded from the list are still in Kerala. To add their name to the list, they will have to apply as new voters.Those unable to fill and submit the enumeration form can apply in Form 6 from today (December 23). They must also submit a declaration. To add a new name, apply in Form 6 and non-residents in Form 6A. To remove a name due to death, relocation, duplication of name, etc., apply in Form 7 and for change of address and other changes, apply in Form 8. The forms are available on the Election Commission website.If a person’s name is removed from the draft list after the hearing, an appeal can be filed with the District Election Officer within 15 days of the order of the Electoral Registration Officer. If there is a complaint in this regard, the Chief Election Officer should be approached within 30 days. The decision and settlement of the complaint in the enumeration forms will be from December 23 to February 14.
