Kerala: Sreelekha said, “I don’t like spending money unnecessarily, so I won’t go to Delhi.”

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: R. Sreelekha has clarified why she did not join the group of BJP councillors from the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation travelling to Delhi to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi. She said the long journey by the Kerala Express train would be difficult for her at this stage of her life. Sreelekha shared her explanation through a video posted on her Facebook page.
We achieved a historic victory in the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation. After 45 years, the BJP has come to power in the corporation. At this time, a few councillors received an invitation to travel to Delhi and attend a dinner hosted by the Prime Minister. They are going by Kerala Express, receiving welcomes at various places along the way. They will stay in Delhi for two days and return on the night of the 13th. Fourteen members have decided to go.I said that such a long journey would be difficult for me at this age. They offered to book a flight ticket for me, but I declined. I do not like unnecessary spending. I have an elderly mother at home and cannot stay away for five days. I also have responsibilities as a councillor. That is why I am not joining the trip. It is not a protest or due to any personal dislike towards anyone,” Sreelekha said.
