Kerala: Sabarimala gold theft case; Former officer Sudheesh Babu granted bail

KOLLAM: The court has granted bail to former Executive Officer D. Sudheesh Kumar in the Sabarimala gold theft case. He will be released from jail today after securing statutory bail in both cases. The Kollam Vigilance Court granted bail to Sudheesh Kumar. The court granted him statutory bail after he completed 90 days in custody in the cases involving the door frames and the sheets covering the gatekeeper idols.
Former Sabarimala administrative officer S. Sreekumar had received bail in the gold theft case on January 29. The Kollam Vigilance Court had granted him bail with strict conditions. Sreekumar was the administrative officer when the gold sheets were handed over to Unnikrishnan Potty, the main accused in the case, and when they were returned. Sreekumar claimed that Murari Babu had prepared the Mahazar (inventory) draft before he joined the service. Sreekumar also argued that signing it was his responsibility as an officer. Former Travancore Devaswom Board administrative officer Murari Babu had already been granted bail in the Sabarimala gold theft case.
