Kerala landslides: Odia doctor Swadhin Panda still missing, search underway

Bhubaneswar: Odia doctor Swadhin Panda who was missing in the Kerala landslides is yet to be traced, a search is still underway. Two doctors from Odisha reportedly went missing following the devastating landslide in Kerala’s Waynad late on Monday night. However, their wives had been rescued and are undergoing treatment.

The missing doctors had been identified as Dr. Bishnuprasad Chinra, a resident of Chowdwar, and his friend Dr. Swadhin Panda. The body of the missing doctor Bishnuprasad Chinnara had been found in Kerala said Minister Suresh Pujari on Wednesday.

It is worth mentioning that another doctor identified as Swadhin Panda is still missing. In the case of two Odia doctors missing in the Kerala landslides, the Odisha SRC has talked to the Kerala SRC in this regard.

Two doctors from Odisha reportedly went missing following the devastating landslide in Kerala’s Waynad late on Monday night. However, their wives have been rescued and are undergoing treatment at a temporary medical centre.

The missing doctors have been identified as Dr. Bishnuprasad Chinra, a resident of Chodwar, and his friend Dr. Swadhin Panda. According to reports, Bishnu, his wife Priyadarsini Pal and Dr. Swadhin Panda and his friend Swikruti Mohapatra left Bengaluru for an outing on July 26. Later, they went to Waynad and stayed at Linara Villa. Unfortunately, landslides occurred following which both the medicos went missing.

However, Priyadharini Pal and Swikruti Mohapatra were rescued and are currently undergoing treatment at a temporary medical centre.

Meanwhile, the Office of the Chief Minister in a post on ‘X’ informed that the Odisha government informed that as per the information of the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority, two Odia individuals are still missing while two recued are under medical treatment. The State government informed that it is in touch with the local administration in Kerala and is collecting updates of the Odias.

The concerned district administration, as per the instructions of the state government, met the family members of the affected people and updated them about the status.
