Kashi Scholars: Will Diwali be celebrated on 31st October?
Uttar Pradesh: Diwali 2024 will be celebrated on October 31. Kashi scholars dismiss any confusion about this date. Amavasya will start from 3:52 pm on October 31 and will last till 5:13 pm on the next day, November 1. After that comes Pratipada, but Diwali puja is not performed in Pratipada. Therefore, the time of Amavasya from the evening of October 31 is considered suitable for Diwali puja.
According to Professor Vinay Kumar Pandey, member of Kashi Vidvat Parishad and former head of BHU Astrology Department, in some Western calendars and calendars, Diwali is celebrated as the first day of November. But this calculation is completely wrong and is neither astrologically nor theologically valid. All major Kashu calendars agree on the date of Diwali and declare that it will be celebrated across the country on October 31. Researchers say that there is no controversy about this and information that creates confusion about history should be avoided.
