Karnataka: Teacher beaten up for sending obscene messages to female colleague

Bengaluru: A teacher in Karnataka’s Raichur district was beaten up for sending obscene messages to his female colleague, officials said on Tuesday. According to the police, the accused has been identified as Mehboob Ali, an assistant teacher at Adarsh ​​Government School on the outskirts of the city. Accused Ali had sent obscene messages to a female guest teacher and asked her to entertain him. Though the guest teacher initially ignored him, the accused continued to harass her.

The woman teacher then narrated her ordeal to her family. The victim’s relatives and family members reached the school on Monday and asked Mehboob Ali about his behaviour. They thrashed him and tore his clothes. Mehboob Ali tendered a written apology to the teacher and confessed to the crime. He was also asked to touch the victim’s feet. The accused was warned that if he repeated such acts in the future, he would face serious consequences. After Mehboob Ali repeatedly requested the family and the victim to leave him as he has a family, the victim decided not to lodge a police complaint against him and initiate legal action.

Meanwhile, a video of the accused teacher apologising and touching the victim’s feet went viral on social media on Tuesday. The Raichur police said they would initiate legal proceedings against the accused teacher if the victim lodged a complaint. Earlier, in another incident, the Raichur police had arrested a teacher for allegedly forcing the mother of his student to have physical relations and then circulating the video. The accused has been identified as Mohammed Azaruddin, a teacher at Singapura Government School in the district. The victim alleged that the accused teacher had promised to teach tuition to her daughter and also assured her of some government facilities. He forced her to have physical relations with him. He recorded the private moments and threatened the woman to cooperate with him. Later, he uploaded the video. The victim had lodged a complaint at the Karatagi police station.
