Karnataka News: Dr. Kiran planted 101 trees, important contribution in environmental protection, it is a well known fact that plants are necessary for the survival of living beings on earth but still people do not hesitate to cut them for some reason or the other. Dr. Kiran, a scientist from Karnataka, had cut down 3 trees (2 coconut and 1 mango) to build a house. The scientist compensated by planting 101 saplings. These saplings were planted in a program conducted with the consent and cooperation of the Forest Department. Famous film actor Ravi Gunaga assisted Dr. Kiran in this noble initiative and took prior permission from the Grassland Forest Officer for this program. Not only film celebrities but also government school children, officials and local people joined Dr. Kiran in planting 101 saplings. The doctor from Ankola himself bore all the cost of this program i.e. Rs 30,000. The image shows the forest officer and others helping in planting these saplings. Students were also brought to the site in a proper queue to see the plants. They posed for pictures with their parents. The video ends with Dr Kiran talking about the event and explaining the importance of forests to people. The students can be seen clapping happily when the event ends. Officials and common people have realised the importance of trees for the better functioning of the ecosystem. Now, inspired by this, they leave no stone unturned to plant as many trees as possible. According to a report, Karnataka is all set for another round of afforestation programme in monsoon 2024. Officials are planning to plant five crore saplings in Karnataka under this programme. In this initiative, planting saplings in protected forests, especially in wildlife areas, proved to be a tough task for the department. This is because 1/3 of these saplings are trampled by elephants or grazed by the herbivore population. To avoid this situation, the department now wants to sow seeds or plant saplings on dead trees.
