Karnataka: Bengaluru Cantonment, Yeshwantpur stations being upgraded

Bengaluru: Minister of State for Railways and Jal Shakti V Somanna on Sunday reviewed the ongoing development works at two major railway stations in Bengaluru division – Bengaluru Cantonment and Yeshwantpur. The Bengaluru Cantonment station is being upgraded at a cost of Rs 486 crore and Yeshwantpur station at Rs 367 crore. Somanna said the Cantonment station is an important junction connecting the suburban railway, mainline route and metro lines. He underlined the important role of the station in meeting the heavy traffic volume expected in the next two to three decades. The minister called upon officials to ensure that the upgradation work at Yeshwantpur railway station is completed on time and the quality of construction is maintained, a release said. He also called for incorporating more greenery in the station premises. Somanna was accompanied by Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Shobha Karandlaje, MP PC Mohan and MLA Rizwan Ahmed.
