Kanpur Lawyer Priyanshu Srivastava Dies by Suicide, Cites Childhood Trauma in Note

Lucknow: A young lawyer committed suicide by jumping from the top of a court building. In a suicide note, he blamed his father’s misdeeds during his childhood. He also said that his father should not touch his body. (lawyer dies by suicide) This incident took place in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Priyanshu Srivastava, a 25-year-old lawyer, jumped from the fifth floor of a court building in Kanpur on Thursday. He was seriously injured and was immediately rushed to the hospital where doctors declared him dead. The incident led to panic and chaos in the court premises.

Meanwhile, before committing suicide, Srivastava posted a detailed suicide note on WhatsApp. He cited excessive harshness from his father, traumatic childhood experiences, and dislike of education as the reasons for his suicide. He alleged that his father stripped him and forcibly threw him out of the house for drinking mango juice without permission at the age of six. He said that such incidents increased his constant feelings of guilt, shame, and low self-esteem.

On the other hand, Srivastava mentioned in his suicide note his life struggle, including difficulties in passing the bar exams despite completing his LLB in 2025, financial pressure, and responsibilities arising from his father’s illness. He expressed deep frustration at his lack of his own, professional identity, and working under his father. He stated, ‘My father should not even touch my body.’ He requested that his mother not be harassed after his death and that no one else be blamed for his actions.

However, the police officer said that they will investigate Srivastava’s suicide from all angles. He said that they are examining the suicide note as well as the CCTV footage. He explained that Srivastava’s father, a lawyer, is in deep grief. He revealed that they will try to collect details from him.
