Junior doctor raped after being called to hostel, victim’s colleague arrested
MP. A case similar to that of Calcutta’s RG Kar Hospital has come to light in Gwalior. Here a junior doctor was raped in a college hostel. Police said on Monday that the incident took place in a government medical college in Gwalior. A 25-year-old junior doctor was allegedly raped by her colleague in an empty and ruined hostel here.
An official said the incident took place on Sunday in a hostel inside the Gajara Raja Medical College campus and the 25-year-old accused was arrested after the victim lodged a complaint at the Kampu police station in Madhya Pradesh city. City Superintendent of Police (CSP) Ashok Jadon said the victim had to take an exam and was staying in the college’s girls hostel. He said the accused, who studied with the victim, is a junior doctor. The accused had called the girl to meet him in an old hostel, which is now lying vacant. The police officer said that when the girl reached there, the junior doctor threatened her and raped her. He said that a case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is being done.
Let us tell you that a similar case came to light from Kolkata last year. Here on August 9, the body of a lady doctor was found in the seminar room in RG Kar Hospital. Rape and murder were confirmed in the postmortem report. The case was initially investigated by the Kolkata Police, but the Calcutta High Court expressed concern over the action of the local police and handed it over to the CBI.
