Job calendar gets cabinet approval
Hyderabad: The state Cabinet on Thursday decided to announce the job calendar on Friday for approval in the Assembly. This was one of the promises made by the Congress during its election campaign. The government has prepared the job calendar with a timetable based on the availability of vacancies. Soon after the announcement of the job calendar, the finance wing will give its approval to start the recruitment drive. Other important decisions taken by the Cabinet include lifting 15 TMC of Godavari water from Mallanna Sagar and pumping it into Shamirpet lake. From there, 10 TMC water will be lifted to Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar to meet Hyderabad’s drinking water needs and the remaining 5 TMC will be used to pump into the Musi River Front Development Project, ensuring freshwater flow to boost tourism and maintain sanitary conditions. The government has allocated Rs 10,000 crore for the Musi project in the Budget. Briefing the media after the Cabinet meeting, Information and Public Relations Minister P Srinivas Reddy said the Cabinet has approved the merger of 40 villages with Greater Hyderabad. Once again, the names of Professor M Kodandaram and noted journalist Amir Ali Khan have been approved for two MLC posts. They will be sent to Governor Jishnu Dev Verma for approval under the Governor’s quota. Notably, earlier both these names were rejected and the government had sought the High Court’s intervention. Other decisions included the formation of a Cabinet sub-committee with Ministers N Uttam Kumar Reddy, P Srinivas Reddy and Damodar Raja Narasimha to finalise the modalities and guidelines for issuing new white ration cards and Arogyasri cards to all eligible persons. The sub-committee will submit the report within a month. The minister said the Dharani will be debated in the Assembly. It is pertinent to mention here that the government had announced that Dharani will be renamed as ‘Bhumata’. Srinivas Reddy said the cabinet also approved the proposal for revival of Nizam Sugar Company based on the recommendations of the Cabinet Sub-Committee, Group 1 posts to cricketer Mohammed Siraj and boxer Nikhat Zareen, 600 sq. yard house to them and shooter Isha Singh in Hyderabad. Besides, he said the cabinet approved the appointment of the son of recently killed Intelligence IG Rajeev Rattan as Municipal Commissioner and the son of Additional DGP Murali, who died recently while discharging his duties, as Deputy Tehsildar. The cabinet expressed deep condolences on the loss of lives in the Wayanad landslide and decided to send relief materials and deploy disaster management teams to help the Kerala government in rescue operations. The minister clarified that BC reservation in local body elections will be finalised after the completion of BC caste survey and release of voter list by the Election Commission.
