Jharsuguda heritage post office building gets a spectacular makeover

Jharsuguda: The 141-year-old heritage post office building in Jharsuguda, Odisha has got a stunning makeover. ECoR said, “Minister of Railways, Communications and Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnav has fulfilled his promise to renovate Jharsuguda Post Office, a historical gem built in 1882. The Minister’s commitment has resulted in a stunning renovation while preserving the architectural heritage.” Said in a release.

Renovation of the architectural heritage began after the post office was awarded a heritage tag in 2021. The Indian Railways and the Postal Department worked together for its restoration and conservation. During his visits to Odisha in previous years, Vaishnav visited the site and monitored the progress of the work.

Based on Tankadhar Tripathi’s petition, Union Minister for Education and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dharmendra Pradhan had sought heritage status for the post office in August 2021. He had also urged his cabinet colleagues to take up restoration, maintenance and re-operation of the heritage. building.
