Jana Nayakan: Thalapathy Vijay’s final journey on the silver screen begins

Entertainment: Thalapathy Vijay is all set to make a grand final appearance on the silver screen with his final film, Jana Nayakan. This political action thriller marks Vijay’s official farewell to cinema, as the superstar has already announced his decision to retire from acting and devote himself entirely to politics and public service.
Aptly titled Jana Nayakan (People’s Leader), the film beautifully depicts Vijay’s real-life transformation from a celebrated film icon to an emerging political leader. Although the film marks the end of his acting career, Vijay has ensured that his departure from cinema will be nothing short of historic.
According to reports, Jana Nayakan is being made on a massive budget of ₹380 crore, making it one of the most expensive projects ever in Tamil cinema. Director H. Vinoth has reportedly been paid ₹25 crore, while music sensation Anirudh Ravichander received ₹13 crore for the film.
However, the biggest highlight is Vijay’s remuneration. According to industry buzz and a post by Movie Tamil on X (formerly Twitter), Thalapathy Vijay charged ₹220 crore for Jana Nayagan. This figure puts him ahead of top Indian superstars like Shah Rukh Khan, Prabhas, and Salman Khan in terms of remuneration for a film.
For comparison, Shah Rukh Khan’s highest reported fee was around ₹200 crore for Jawaan (excluding profit sharing), Prabhas is believed to have earned ₹160-200 crore for Spirit, while Salman Khan reportedly earned ₹120 crore for Sikander. In contrast, co-stars Bobby Deol and Pooja Hegde were reportedly paid ₹3 crore each.
With Jana Nayagan, Thalapathy Vijay isn’t just saying goodbye to acting – he’s doing so with one of the biggest salaries in the history of Indian cinema, cementing his status as a superstar and a future political force.
