Jammu-Kashmir: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha calls for coordination among security forces

Jammu. Jammu: Ahead of the Amarnath Yatra Pilgrimage to Amarnaath starting from June 29, a high-level security meeting was held under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha with Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) of 10 districts of Jammu region and other senior officers of the civil and police administration.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, DGP RR Swain, Principal Secretary Home Department Chandrakar Bharti, ADGP Law & Order Vijay Kumar, ADGP CID Nitish Kumar, ADGP Jammu Anand Jain, ADGP Jammu Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor among others.

The Lieutenant Governor reviewed the overall security scenario in the region. He called for close synergy between security forces, civil and police administration to eliminate the entire terror ecosystem. He said that terrorists and those aiding them should be neutralised on priority basis.

The Lieutenant Governor also took stock of the progress achieved on development projects and saturation of social welfare and other government schemes. The DCs briefed them on the implementation of the Integrated Agricultural Development Programme (HADP), development of industrial estates and expansion of public services.

Important matters relating to pre-Amarnath Yatra preparations and security, traffic management, essential amenities for pilgrims on the route, lodging, upgradation of roads and distribution of RFID cards were also discussed in the meeting.

The Lt Governor also sought action taken reports from the districts and police administration on the steps taken to curb the rising incidents of accidents, illegal mining activities and drug menace.

He highlighted the growing concern of the people about road safety and serious injuries and deaths due to road accidents in the hill districts of Jammu division.

To address the issue, the Lt Governor directed the DCs and SSPs to adopt zero tolerance policy towards traffic rule violators and to strictly monitor and impose penalties. He said that unfit vehicles violating the rules should be immediately identified and seized.
