Jalandhar: Woman and daughter trapped in MC lift

Jalandhar: It was a tense 10 minutes for Jassi and her minor daughter when they got stuck in a lift in the municipal corporation building on Tuesday. The lift, which is visited by thousands of people daily, stopped working, leaving Jassi and her daughter stuck inside for 10 minutes. Speaking to media persons, Jassi said that she has been coming to the office for the past several days but her work is yet to be done.

“It is a daily struggle for me. Today when I got stuck, I was shocked as my daughter was also with me,” she said. She was accompanied by her brother, who was not in the lift and he raised the alarm and informed the technical staff about the matter. Jassi further said that her mother, who is a retired employee of the municipal corporation, has been bedridden for the past two years. “Her dues are not being paid by the corporation,” she alleged. Jassi further said, “I go to the third floor every day, meet the officials and come back empty handed. No one pays attention. This is what a normal person goes through. No hearing is done by anyone,” said an angry Jassi.
