Jalandhar: Three people have been booked for alleged fraud worth Rs 9.31 lakh.

Jalandhar: Authorities have confirmed that a case of alleged fraud and criminal breach of trust involving Rs 9.31 lakh has been registered at the Bhulath police station near Kapurthala, following an investigation. According to the information, Gurjeet Singh, a resident of Mehtla village near Bhulath, had filed a complaint seeking action against three individuals identified as Pratpal Singh, Ranjit Singh, and Rajwinder Kaur alias Raju, all residents of Meghowal village near Mahilpur. In the complaint, filed on December 1, 2025, Gurjeet alleged that the accused had jointly defrauded him of Rs 9,31,500.
After examining the facts and evidence on record, the investigating officer found sufficient grounds to initiate criminal proceedings against the three accused. Kapurthala SSP Gaurav Toora said that based on the findings of the investigation, the police have registered a formal case against the three accused under Sections 420 (cheating) and 406 (criminal breach of trust) of the Indian Penal Code. He said the allegations pertain to deliberate deception and misappropriation of money, resulting in financial loss to the complainant. The SSP added that further investigation is underway to determine the precise role of each accused and to recover the defrauded amount. The SSP reiterated that the case has been registered under due legal process after the investigation, and all the accused will be given an opportunity to present their side during the investigation.
