Jalandhar: Social worker sets an inspiring example by donating his father’s eyes

Jalandhar: Renowned social worker Raman Nehra donated his deceased father’s eyes, setting an example of social responsibility even in the face of personal grief. His father, Raj Pal Nehra, passed away on December 16th and was laid to rest. At the time of his father’s passing, Raman Nehra was in Jammu on professional work, yet he took immediate action to ensure the noble cause of eye donation took place without delay. Despite being away from home, Nehra communicated with his family members in Phagwara, including his sisters Kavita Nehra Kukki and Sarita Chawla alias Radha Nehra, and brother-in-law Rajiv Chawla. He also contacted doctors at Thind Hospital in Jalandhar to make the necessary arrangements for the eye donation. Responding quickly, a medical team consisting of Drs. Anisha, Kajal, Nikhil, and Chanpreet Singh arrived in Phagwara and successfully completed the eye harvesting procedure. The hospital team later honored the family members with certificates of appreciation. Raman Nehra is the General Secretary of the Khatri Mahasabha Punjab, Executive Member of the BJP NGO Cell Punjab, State President of the Human Rights Council India (Anti-Corruption Cell), District President of the Vishwa Hindu Sangh Kapurthala, former member of the Khatri Arora Welfare Board, Punjab Government, State Body Member of the Hindu Welfare Board, and Jalandhar Zone Incharge. Known for his social service in Phagwara, Goraya, and surrounding villages, he has consistently inspired people to pledge and donate their eyes after death, resulting in several successful eye donations over the past few years. It is noteworthy that Raman Nehra had previously donated the eyes of his deceased mother, further strengthening his lifelong commitment to serving humanity. His work continues to inspire society to embrace eye donation as a noble way to give the gift of sight to those who are visually impaired.
