Jalandhar: Professor writes 37th textbook on computer science

Jalandhar: Dr. Ravi Khurana, who has written 37 textbooks on computer science and artificial intelligence, aims to make the subject easy, interesting and student-friendly. Dr. Khurana, associate professor in the PG Department of Computer Science and Applications at Kanya Mahavidyalaya, has written books that are for students from Class I to Master’s degree. “I want anyone who reads my book and applies the knowledge gained in practical work to become computer savvy.” Dr. Khurana holds several educational qualifications, including a PGDCA, MSc (Mathematics), M.Tech (IT), M.Phil (Computer Sciences), and a PhD (Computer Sciences). He has 25 years of teaching experience, with the first four years spent at Kamala Nehru College, Phagwara, and DAV College, Jalandhar. For the past 21 years, he has been teaching at KMV College.
Dr. Khurana’s latest book, “Accurate Foundations of Computer Graphics,” has become one of the most recommended books for BCA and BSc (IT) students not only in colleges in Punjab but also in other states. The professor has also received four patents: “I have received one innovative patent (Australia) and one patent (Government of India). I have also registered two design patents—one with the Intellectual Property Office, UK, and the other with the Patent Office, Government of India. I have contributed to a project funded by MeitY, Government of India, with a budget of ₹182.685 lakh. I have published 23 journal papers (including Scopus and UGC-CARE), presented 23 research papers at seminars/conferences, participated in 11 Faculty Development Projects (FDPs), and delivered expert talks at FDPs.” Dr. Khurana, who gives all the credit for his work to Principal Dr. Athima Sharma Dwivedi, said, “My next project is to start a YouTube channel. Young people today find videos a more convenient and easy way to learn. Therefore, I will upload my classroom sessions and tutorials related to Python and Java programming on my channel for quick understanding.”
